I am having some of the same problems. I ended up buying a Celeron G450 so I could get the boards to boot up.

    Which 2TB Drive?

If you need parts for anything you bought at Sears, you have to order it online, and pay shipping to your home. If you try to use 'Store Pickup' you may or may not get your part. I've used Walmart's online shopping a few times. Always used their 'Store Pickup' option. Haven't had a problem yet...

    question Good SATA card?

The 3Ware RAID cards I have dealt with will allow a RAID array with the leftovers set to JBOD. It is probably better to attach single drives to the motherboard though.

I have been watching the America's Cup too. It was awesome! The other day the two boats were doing 52-58 MPH downwind. Wind speed was 24 knots. Most average power boats can only do about half that.

I should have done more checking before buying the Gigabyte board. Seems this particular one has memory slot issues and the PCIe x16 slot pulling out of the board.

I used an image made with Macrium. Macrium boots using Windows PE which allowed to install drivers. I also used Macrium's bare metal install option which allowed to install drivers. The operating system booted fine. The problem wasn't not seeing the USB ports, it is the USB ports being turned...

I have been using the NORCO RPC-270 2U case for most of my rack mount needs. It uses a standard ATX12V power supply. I have been using an Antec EA-380 power supply as it has it's fan mounted on the side ( or end ) of the fan case. If I need a larger power supply what could I use? Everyone that I...

    ASUS problems

The GPT problem originated in the BIOS. xHCI was being loaded, whatever xHCI is. I went through the BIOS and set everything I could find to Legacy. I left the SATA ports set as AHCI. Windows loaded fine without all the goofy partitions. There is no way to attach a PS2 device to this...

The new Gigabyte motherboard arrived. It seems to have issues. Two of the memory slots don't work. I'll try new memory when it gets here. When I installed the OS from an image, it boots fine but as soon as the OS starts to load, it shuts off all the USB ports. Therefore no keyboard or mouse...

A little clarification. Where I work we cast, hot roll, and cold roll aluminum. We do not make any finished product though. The casting area contains dross dust ( think baking flour ) that gets into everything. In the hot mill we spray coolant on sheets of aluminum that is 900 F-1000 F during...

    Gateway PC

I just retired a 1998 vintage Gateway E-4200 computer. From 1998 to 2002 it was someones desktop computer. From 2003 until today it was in our production are running 24/7/365. My concern is more for the environment at work. Dirt, goo, and grime have a way of getting into everything. And electrical connections seem to be a magnet for dirt. The only power supplies I use are the Antec Earthwatts series. They have an excellent survival rate in our production facility where they live without a ups or line filtering.
