We had one of those Christmas trees. It died last year and I fooled around with it trying to make it work. Parts are non-existent and doing something make-shift didn't seem safe.
It went into the trash.
I read some months ago that Win 8 never really shuts down an application or program. Once started it stays started and just the GUI disappears. Is this true?
I am beginning to wonder about Amazon. In early November I was looking at a cold brew coffee pot. It was $26.00 on Amazon. Tuesday I went to order it and it was $48.99. Seems after Thanksgiving the prices on Amazon went up.
I bought the coffee pot else where for $23.00
VMWare converter will convert Acronis .tib files to VMWare Player or Workstation. You can download a free version of Acronis from Western Digital or Seagate. But you must have one of their drives installed. I have used a USB WD drive on a computer with a Hitachi drive installed and the WD...
I'd ask her anyway. She might like it, but she will never know until she see a performance. If she says she doesn't want to go, at least you made the effort to ask her.
The eye of the storm is supposed to pass right over us here in Pa. My concern is having no electric. We have a well and no electric means no water. I filled 5 gallen buckets with water so we can flush the toilets. We have some bottled water to drink. The rain gutters and downspouts have been...
The stop error means it can't find a hard drive. Go into the BIOS and set the drive for IDE. It's probably set for AHCI. Both XP and Windows 7 will then load.
I am using VMWare Player for my virtual XP on a Server 2008 install. No hacks nessesary. Just be sure to install the VMWare tools when...
I run XP in VMWare on my Server 2008 computer. It has access to my USB printer and can be released to the main OS. I also have a folder shared out on XP that I can map to in 2008.
Don't really see a need for dual boot.
I like the snail mail spam that has a prepaid envelope inside. The company that sends these is billed by the weight of the returned mail. So I slip in an appropriately sized sheet of 0.125" steel and mail it back. :-)
Except in this case Intel is backing the technology. If you bought 'oil ready' componates from Intel, I'm sure they would back them.
From my experiance working with oil filled transformers, the mineral oil used is not sticky-gooey like cooking oil.
I could have used those 10TB drives about 4 months ago. Instaed of 10-3TB drives in RAID 5 for storage, I could have used 3-10TB drives. Lees power, heat, and noise.
My $0.02 worth. I have been using Intel motherboards for over 12 years now. I've had two failures. Both had been running 24/7/365 on our factory floor. A couple of capacitors died on the boards. These motherboards (D865...) were built about the same time as the Japan capacitor mess. I still have...
It's the same where I work. I have been trying to virtualize a number of servers and computers for years. But not with the current management group. Combined they all have the technical expertise of a banana, and they won't listen to anybody. Even outside venders. So, we are stuck in the 1990s.
I have upgraded XP to Vista and then to Windows 7. The versions of Vista and Windows 7 must be the same though.
Just make sure you have cleaned up your OS ( like with CCleaner) and defragged first. A chkdsk wouldn't hurt either.
And, don't be in a hurry.
