    Been screwing around with Opera 10.5, latest version. On 2000 SP4, it goes right to the limit, or over, of 256 MB of ram. Firefox runs around 170 MB of ram.

    You should be able to scrounge around and find some used ram on ebay for not too much money. What about a hard drive upgrade? Seems to me if you don't have enough ram, it's going to be hitting the hard drive constantly in VM. If so, I suspect one could easily double or triple both access time...
