    question Display Cleaning

What solution and microfibers do you use for cleaning the display? Now that I have a decent monitor I want to keep in peak condition.

I suppose that is good performance for 4+ lbs. However, I would be using it in a hotel room or somewhere else, not on an airline. You are not sleeping on the red-eye flight?

The F****** killed two CC, so I may be back to the Samsung/LG RAM-less options. :cursin:

    Samsung Notebook

Thanks. It is on the list, albeit for 7th generation CPUs. I feel better with the barebones SO-DIMM. Heatsinked SO-DIMMs may have some use in a large case, but the small, thin/light laptops have no extra space.

Actually Samsung and LG have no RAM. :( I was thinking about the Fujitsu, but typically it takes months for the new models to appear in configuration lists. If I understand correctly the regular KABY Lake used 2133, but the Type R uses 2400.

    Samsung Notebook

What would you use for RAM in the KABY Lake laptops rated for the DDR4 2400? There is only one socket due to the 4GB RAM chip being soldered. I was looking at this Crucial SO-DIMM, but am unsure if that is the best option.

I want to buy a new car

I have no idea, maybe better alloys and coatings and more plastic? I had >20year old vehicle from late 60s with minimal rust in SoCial. Perhaps it's different in Detroit, Chicago, NYC, etc.

Shouldn't they be using a better chipset?

Of course I would not run SSD benchmarks whilst the system is doing something else.

Yes it is the DMI 3.0. The NVMe M.2 SSD can take most of that.

I just want to use M.2s and the fully populated PCIe slots at the same time. Then I would believe it. I was hoping to have the laptop to learn more of Windows 10 first though.

    Core I9

I expecting the 8700K to be about 25% better than a Haswell E partly due to the higher OC. I have a 4790K as well, but it is limited in the chipset/mainboard.
  25. LunarMist

    Core I9

I would not notice a small difference in price, but more lanes are better. I don't understand why Intel has only 16. It's like comparing one car with 160 PS and another with 600. I don't need 600, but 160 can be limiting in a traffic jam merger.

I thought the per thread performance was not so good and do they OC to 5.1 or 5.5MHz like the Café Lake Dave was using?

    Core I9

My experience with older chipsets like the 4790K board is that certain combinations just don't work and one slot is non-functional when the board is overloaded. For example SSD on M.2 and SSD in PCIe, GbE card and video card will not work. :(
  30. LunarMist

    Core I9

There does not seem to be an option to split the lanes into 4x4. I could probably live without the RAID card if the hot swap works better in Windows 10.

    Core I9

No, but the current computer has a video card, RAID card, M.2 SSD, and 10GbE card. Does that work with a measly 16 PCIe lanes?
  33. LunarMist

    Core I9

I just need more PCIe lanes not all those cores. :(

Sure 6C/12T will do that, but is it really faster than 4C/8CT at 15% utilization? I'm thinking that maybe there is some benefit for an instant when a new page loads or something. Lately I'm seeing web pages with a message that there is a slowly moving script running, but the CPU cores are...
