    940: how to use it....

Also check to make sure the install CD has the latest service pack on it. If it is a original disk it won't load no matter what you do with the F6. "Do YOU want to buy and/or dig out the USB floppy drive you'd need to do that on XP or Server 2003?" I have a TEAC USB floppy just for such...

    Gaming across 3 monitors?

I just read where a monitor company was selling a 'wall' of six monitors with a narrow stripe between them. Sounds like just what you need. But I can't remember where I saw it or who it was. I'll search to see if I can find it again.

The only time I drink soda (regular kind) is when I have an upset stomach. I drink it warm. The regular Coke of today is not the same as it was before about 1980 or so. The Coke I drank in the 60's had real sugar and more caffene. Tasted a lot better too. :D

    Virtual servers? How and why?

Virtualizing an operating system just for surfing the web is much safer than using your main OS. After you set up the virual OS, you copy the files to a safe place. If your virtual OS gets clogged up with viruses and what-not, just copy the original files back. Keeps the main ( or host ) OS clean.

    Another slow disk thing

It's been awhile since I fooled with an IBM server, but I seem to remember each one had an install disk. You answered a few questions (what OS, what RAID etc) and the setup disk configured the system. When it was finished it prompted you to load the OS. Could be that you need this disk to set...

These computers have been running 24/7/365 for over 5 years. The data they are collecting has been increased by a factor of 5. On occasion, they have bogged down and lost data. The new boxes are quad core with memory at 1333MHz. The best I can tell, XP is only good for 2 cores. Besides, why...

    I hate Linux! (v. Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS + RAID-1 + Encryption + LVM)

I would recommend CentOS 5.4. It is a server OS without all the unwanted baggage that Ubunto has. I believe you can set up RAID and encryption from the GUI install too. Maybe that would help. My experiance with *nix is very limited, but CentOS seems to be a lot easier to install than the rest.
