The ATI team had the benefit of being in the "official instructions" in how to configure the GPU client with the ATI beta drivers. Part of the instructions was to put in the ATI team number. But the number of people that are actually using the GPU client is still very small (less than 500...

    Disappearing threads.

I agree with the validation step. Without it, someone could simply register and then post advertising or worse, as news. It just didn't work well in this instance, but then things happen. So, don't worry. If it had been a big deal I would have PM'ed you about the issue. It's not as if I...

    Disappearing threads.

Well, almost a week ago, I posted in the news forum about the upcoming new Nvidia GPU and it never appeared. I just made the assumption, that since the news forum requires that the post be validated before appearing, that the validation gods decided it was not up to snuff.

    GPU folding is here!

GPU status report The beta test is progressing and the kinks are being slowly ironed out. Bad WU's are now being properly reported back and are being pulled, so that they aren't going from person to person. OC'ing the GPU's seems to be the norm amoung partisipants with roughly a 30% PPD...

SON¥: On The Fast Decline To Second Tierdom???

I can remember when Sony made great top-end monitors (along with lower-end products, at a premium price, to give a sense of completeness to their product line) Second to none. Then there was Samsung which made second-teir monitors with Sony Triniton screens that were just a hair lower in...

Motherboard manufacturers have been using the same CMOS batteries since, well forever. They are all shiney, round about the size of a nickel (models CR2025/CR2032) and very easy to spot on the MB. However, if you go back early enough, there were variations before the standard became the...

    Virtual Defrag

The virtual HD, as a file will get defragged. But, that will not actually defrag the interior file structure of that file. So yes, there is a limited value of installing a defrag program into the virtual OS. That being said, unless the fragmentation is really bad, I've not found that...

The cheap solution is to install a second HD on one of the machines you already have at the office and use it as a multi purpose machine, one of which will be as a "file server". Then transfer the appropiate files from your home machine to the new office file server and share them. Finally...

PC Gaming = World of Suck

I don't like in-game advertising, but for the most part I can tolerate it. I agree, that if it made the games cheaper, maybe there's value there, but I have observed absolutely no decreased pricing in games with advertising in them. My complaint has nothing to do with ingame advertising...

Currently the GPU WU's are applicable only to the GPU. It is my understanding, that there will be no crossover between conventional WU's and the GPU WU's. The P1495 is just plain a spectacular point producer. But specificly it does extremely well with core 2 duo processors. With my X2...
