From what I've seen you are the second. Don't worry about it. Most here have wished me a happy birthday at least 8 times, some as many as 16 ;)

    Show us your desktop!

The desktop at work has more pixels; 2560x1600 and 2560x1440 next to each other. The 4k at home is a Dell 32". I've disabled scaling for all the programs I use, but having it for the desktop just makes clicking on the right icon easier.

    Up to date Malware Removal

Back when I was running the computer gaming center I found a device that sat between the hard drive and motherboard that effectively cached all writes to the drive during an entire session. By default all these writes were discarded on reboot. In order to make permanent changes to the drive...

    Some work on my A3

Not yet. This still has to be my daily driver. At some point the modifications will begin to make the vehicle less practical, but I can't afford for that to happen yet. Improvements so far: CI100020 - Carbino Intake - MK5/MK6 CI100020-A - TSI Breather Filter Kit CI100020-C - Carbino Intake...

    Some work on my A3

Didn't do a pre-tune pull. I got to know the guy during the work, so to start it was just business. He wouldn't give me the chart without charging me for the run (understandable), but it was very fat indeed. ;) I asked how much power the engine could take before internals needed to be looked...

    Some work on my A3

Established an awesome relationship with Mike @ Pacific Throttle House. Managed to get the APR Stage 2+ going and dyno'd. 280WHP and 308lbft of torque. Before I even left I placed an order for a K04 turbo, which should put it around 315WHP. The thing is already disconcertingly fast. I'll post...

    Up to date Malware Removal

Used Combofix 2 days ago. Did successfully remove several viruses. Also left enough damaged system files that the machine require a reinstall anyway. I'm not saying that that always happens, or that Combofix caused the damage, just pointing out that it is capable of "cancer removed from corpse"...

    Workstation monitor?

Nice review, very interesting monitor. I don't think I'm regretting my Dell 32" purchase, but that would have made me think pretty hard. Running it as two "screens" in a bezel-less config would make awesome sense for office work, but as he mentioned, for that price you can do lots of awesome...

question Differences between Sanyo's AA eneloops and Panasonic's AA eneloops?

This is correct. I had no idea where the tech was inside batteries. Good to hear that they have so much room for progress. I wonder what a "price no object" AA would look like?

    Workstation monitor?

Every time I am about to buy a monitor I check the options and come to the same conclusion as Merc, Dell is the no-brainer optimum choice 90% of the time. Stick with their P or U lines and get the size you can afford. I've been happy with their various Ultrasharp (32, 30, 27, 24) and the Pro 24.

question Differences between Sanyo's AA eneloops and Panasonic's AA eneloops?

Purely speculation on my part, but if the separator was thin enough, quantum tunneling would be an issue.

I do want to buy a used car

I like the RS7, or even an S7, but my wife thinks the back of them looks ugly. Not as ugly as the Panamera, but she has ruled them both out. The Model S is just good enough in this regard to be a viable target. For a budget of anything less than $200k, I suspect I'd be doing things to a P85+...

    Random musings on scale

My mother is a 3rd grade teacher. I used to go in as a guest and teach one lesson a year, about an hour max. In the past I've done model rockets (not allowed to anymore - no incident, just paranoia) or other neat chemistry demos.

    Random musings on scale

I'm planning in my head a lesson on scale, using scientific notation, to 3rd graders. I'm thinking of using inches. Starting with 1 inch, picking an example item, and then going up and down from there as far as their imagination can go before jumping to planck length (6.3629892 × 10-34 inches)...

My point was that before they didn't have tab close buttons on each tab and now they do. At least the default interface is getting better. Rarely do I spend any time customizing the interface, I typically just use what they give me.

Interesting. Once upon a time, Firefox displayed the tab close function differently, and I went through quite a bit of effort to make it so that each tab had its own x. But I will admit that taking away the option is annoying.

Launch control is way harder than flooring it. It actually lets the revs build before letting the clutch slip considerably to barely maintain traction. Flooring it is something I do a dozen times a day every day in every car I've owned, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

    Interior LED lighting

It might be easier for you to go with a wireless switch solution like Insteon before opening up that wall. Not sure if they have a version to deal with your super-deadly-double-voltage you have down there, maybe to fend off all the spiders and snakes?

    Wireless Mic recommendations

Looking for suggestions. Bought a Pyle system that is living up to its name. Base unit is on one room, antennas need to be relocated to another (10-foot extension on the antennas is enough). Ideally two mics, ideally less than $500, ideally doesn't require phantom power or a pre-amp. Thanks!

So long as I don't run them "excessively" or during the day. One of the advantages of having so many sprinklers is that you can adjust them very accurately. I've also invested in a fairly high-end electronic controller; not only does it have a rain sensor but it also scales the total run time...

Fast CPU for video transcoding? Xeon?

No idea. Speed isn't really an issue for me. I just have a bank of USB BluRay readers (same number of readers as simultaneous disks in my NetFlix Sub, coincidentally). So timing isn't really an issue. Takes longer to name them and pack them.
