1080p with a decent image good enough? Does that budget include the screen? Do you have a computer or other smart device connected to that screen?

    Early College!

Awesome. Khan Academy is better than any Algebra class I've seen. Particularly if you are the self-guided type. I loved the ability to rewind and fast forward around the course without bugging anyone.

    AIO Liquid Coolers

In none of the units could I hear the pump over the basic fan noise. But I also locate my PCs a considerable distance from my desk, preferably in another room or closet.

    HOT

80F+ and spending the next two days outside doing photo portraits. In a long-sleeved shirt and black slacks (dress code). Sucks.

    AIO Liquid Coolers

I have a half dozen or so H100i coolers. One of them had the pump fail after over a year (possibly 2?). Just installed an H110 to replace it.

    Goodbye Firefox

Same, but I clearly don't care as much about customizing my browser experience. ABP is the only one I install as default.

I want to buy a new car

Ah. A max altitude of 12' certainly makes it much safer. Taking something like that to even 100' would be a serious rush.

Wow. I should probably test my 4TB drives in a 10-drive RAID6 on Synology. That might take a long time ;)

I want to buy a new car

When flying, it isn't road legal, so obeying traffic laws doesn't apply at all. The most licensing you might need would be an LSA, which doesn't even require a physical.

question What types of data are backed up by a Win 7 OS, when a restore point is created?

Yup, full imaging software is a really good idea. Or drive cloning if you want a really fast recovery at some point.

I want to buy a new car

The supercharger infrastructure is already pretty impressive, and looks to get much better. Any place I would be willing to drive is well within range, with the option of skipping several for one the optimum distance in my immediate vicinity. But I'd install a high-amperage charger at work...

I want to buy a new car

I love the technologies used to produce the One:1 (Titanium 3D printed variable geometry turbo housing, Carbon wheels, etc). But the 918's drivetrain I'd consider superior (torque fill from the electric and AWD). I think the current winner on the suspension front would be the P1. Yup, I'd take...

question Replacement SSD for a dead Hitachi laptop drive

The Intel drives are nice, and I would still consider them the more reliable option (despite some issues in the past). But I'm having great luck with the evos lately, I have 2 750GB and 4 1TB units destined for servers sitting on my desk right now.

    Goodbye Firefox

Your version of Firefox doesn't do this? Within a couple days of a new release the new version is just installed on the machine on load. Sure you can speed it up by going to "Help -> About", but no need to do anything.

Interesting high-end TOR switch from the OCP initiative

Thanks, but I ended up settling on a bunch of Cisco 50-port units. I've spent about $400k in the last month, so I suspect my budget is blown for the year.

Home listening is usually on some Sennheiser RS220, and my mobile solution was some Ultimate Ears that they don't sell anymore and I can't remember the name. Streaming live camera video to a large audience?

Struggling badly with IR illumination. At first I thought the one I'd bought to start was simply not good enough, and spent significantly more money on a second one. Now I'm wondering whether this camera simply sucks at IR sensitivity. If this horse pops in the middle of the night and I don't...

Streaming live camera video to a large audience?

Recording in two places; a 64GB microSD card in the camera itself is recording on motion and I have the Surveillance Station add-on running on a Synology Box storing a continuous run.

SonicWALL TZ 205 or Fortinet Fortigate 60D

The 5308 is exactly what I'm using at my main office with 4 3Mbps T-1s going into it. I've managed to get rid of all the hosted services that would require a hole in the firewall, and only have site-to-site VPN links with static IPs. I can tell you that they are very reliable with my kind of...

SonicWALL TZ 205 or Fortinet Fortigate 60D

Thanks. Not too worried about it, but restoring this data set over the fiber from my secondary site is going to take another 3 hours. By then this bottle will be gone and it will be 4:30AM local. WiFi Adapters

I prefer the USB adapters, as they can be relocated further from the EMI mess that is a computer. Just get one that supports at least the highest-end tech supported by your access point. Something like this? http://amzn.com/B003G2Z1M6

    Large SSD?

My price is based on the $/GB of current enterprise SSDs. If they went to $2500, they would be undercutting sub-TB units in total price. I don't think they need to be that disruptive to sell their entire stock.

I want to buy a new car

From what I understand, it is more about how greedy the designer is when they size the turbo. It is possible to put in a (relatively) small turbo and get a nice performance gain without much lag at all (as is the case in my car), but if you really want to squeeze the max from an engine you can...
