Yup, all current dual layer discs are 2.4x For data backup purposes, if you are going to be around it is much faster and cheaper to just use single layer discs at the present time.

There must be something fubar'd with your Maxtor and/or IDE setup. 4x DVD is around 5.25MB/sec, even some POS 4400 rpm laptop drive can do that.

If the majority of your TV viewage will be 4:3 then I would suggest going with the 4:3 36". in fact you would get a 33" 16:9 image on the 36", only an inch smaller than the 32" widescreen TV. Plus you would get the full 36" for 4:3, whereas 4:3 windowboxed on the widescreen would be only 28"...

After having a read in the arstechnica forums it appears that the 30" has a cable dongle that ends in a normal DVI port. I guess you just need a vid card capable of that resolution. Not that gaming would be anything but a slug at that rez.

You could certainly swap out boot drives, however you would want to make sure that boot.ini is looking in the right place, i.e. put the other boot drive in the same location you pulled out from.
