    8.0 L quad-turbo W16 - 253MPH (407 km/h) Bugatti Veyron

But maybe it'll put a little strain on the brotherly relationship for a couple of weeks or so. Anyway, I'm glad that only the car got hurt.

Best compression program (7-zip, WinZip, etc)

Smith Micro claims that their StuffIt v9.5 can compress JPGs with up to 30%, but I don't know how true it is. By the way, I bought StuffIt v7.5 a few years ago (I really don't remember why.) But it's easy to use and the compression rate is also fine. I don't know if later versions has gotten...

An inconvienent Truth and Global warming

I think they express themselves in this way because the general direction of the report is already known. And they do use expressions like "its latest report will provide" and "It is expected to stress", which I interpret like a reference to the future... Anyway, it's not like we'd have to...

    Which AM2 motherboard

I don't know if you've seen this, but Sandisk has just lowered their prices on flash and I've seen the effect in one online store here in Sweden. The Extreme IV only costs a little bit more than the Extreme III used to last week. http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37719

    Something Random

The Subarus are OK in snow. A friend of mine has an old Subaru Pick Up with 13" tyres which he drove around in a field with quite deep snow together with the Swedish military classic Volvo Valp. The military truck got stuck after a while but the Subaru continued to drive around it... :)

What do you think of this roof?

I am sure they are different products in regards to engine and chassis characteristics and so on. But I still wish that GM would make their brands stand out a bit more from each other.

What do you think of this roof?

The Saturn Aura is the same car as the Cadillac BLS/Saab 9-3/Opel Vectra and so on... It's not necessarily a bad thing though as I really like the Saab 9-3 (haven't tried the rest.) But it's a little boring that they haven't even bothered to change steering wheels in the new models.

Will Ford make it past this year?

 the Ford Interceptor looks like a crossing between an old Skoda (the front) and some old american car. The biggest problem with american cars are that they stopped the development around 1970, since then they have only been swapping body work to get new models. :mrgrn:

Will Ford make it past this year?

I think the reason to why most repair shops are busy is that a car mechanic is rather expensive, so they only hire as many as they need. It would be interesting though to see statistics on how many cars there are per mechanic, and the relation between service/repairs on European/American brands...

    BMW 335i

OK, I see. But it shouldn't be a problem finding a shop that can change the final gear ratio, or would you rather only put in a longer 5:gear? I don't know if it would really make a difference in any way though... Your car isn't going to be very quiet in these speeds and I don't think you will...

    BMW 335i

A diesel would be perfect for you, but I understand that they aren't very popular in the USA... Anyway, the BMW 530d for example can travel down the Autobahn at 250km/h without breaking a sweat. And under normal circumstances it uses less fuel then their smallest gasoline engine.

    More Vista nonsense

It sounds reasonable that you should be able to install a MSDN version in VMWare, but you never know... Anyway, I found the stuff about the iso here. But I agree, it sounds strange and it's an old page so even if it was a problem it should be fixed by now, unless it's a feature of course.
  17. F

    Well that didn't take long

Or maybe Sechs really meant computer ready Vista? :D I'll wait at least until SP1 before I'll install it (if it'll ever happen.)
  18. F

    More Vista nonsense

Strange, did you try and install from the .iso or did you burn it to a DVD first? I read somewhere that you can only install it from a physical DVD. I haven't tried it myself though so I'm not sure that's the problem.

    Office Chair

Kinnarps might be worth a look if they sell them somewhere in your area. But they're most likely outside of $300. But I've had my (I think it's a 6000-series) for at least 7-8 years now and it's almost like new and I've never sat in a more comfortable office chair.

    Hitachi 1 TB drive

You're right. I've had maybe 4-5 IBM/HGST drives and they have all been working fine until I replaced them with bigger drives. So I don't really doubt their reliability. But it can be fun to mess with the sales person when they come with these kind of statements. :D

    Best 20" LCD display

I'm looking for a LCD that's good for photo editing and playing racing games once in a while. I'm using a Viewsonic VX922 right now and it's perfect for games and lurking on forums, but it leaks (a lot of) light around the edges and it only has 16.2 million colors. I'm leaning towards a 19"...

    Simple business PC

One not so bad thing about Dell is that they don't install 1.000.000 programs by default. We bought some IBM-crap at work, and it took a few reboots before it was installed. And then the computer had a bunch of useless programs in the start menu.

Best *nix OS for hosting a website

Yes, well I was using it on prehistoric Sparc-workstations in the university ... I haven't tried Solaris on X86 before since Sun wanted money for it, and besides I didn't have any need for a *nix OS until now. (I installed Gentoo once a few years ago, but got rid of it after about 5 minutes...

Best *nix OS for hosting a website

The last time I played with Solaris before trying 10 was back in 1998 or something, so I might not be the right person to ask. :D It's still a bit tricky to compile stuff out of the box though. But at least it comes with Apache 2 and php4 (php5 is available from sunfreeware.net) and it has a...

    Automatic Parking Toyota / Lexus

New technologies that they put in cars seldom work 100%, but I'm sure they'll get it right any year now. But it feels a little bit like they've found a solution to a problem that doesn't exist in the first place.

Well, you could say that his style of programming is a bit unusual in this millennium. I kind of like the children's page though. Another fine example of HTML-horror and Javascript abuse: www.serietidningar.com, a homepage about comics. By the way, the pop-up in the beginning says that the...

GM: Best Warranty Coverage Out There

I think that GM put the black boxes in all their cars. And I also think that they will never give the data away to someone outside the company. I mean, would you buy a Corvette or Saab if you knew that the police or insurance company could take a look at the data whenever they feel like it?

    Crash course in HTML

I'm pretty lazy, so I mostly just steal the markup from some of my old pages and adjust it a bit, and use CSS to control the layout. I think it's faster than poking around in a WYSIWYG editor. But of course, the best way to get a homepage is to buy it from a real pro, like Swedens own WebIngO...
