    Giving Linux a 2nd chance

Even with Linux from scratch you still have to have a working compiler. I'd say start with SUSE to make sure Linux can do everything you want it to. Then take steps toward LFS. Personally, I'd rather you keep learning to be a brilliant neurosurgeon than deal with LFS.

    XBOX HDDs

I have an Intellimouse Explorer (P/N X05-48976) that I have been using with several installations of Windows 2000 for about 8 months. It works perfectly on the USB port bar the known limitations of all mouse products with last generation LEDs and their refresh rates. The explorer buttons will...

    Cats and keyboards

When dogs think of their owners they think: He feeds me. He shelters me. He loves me. He must be God. When cats think of their owners they think: He feeds me. He shelters me. He loves me. I must be God.

    The Winter Olympics... who cares?

I appreciate the pursuit of excellence in any physical endevour. The dedication required to not even achieve but only attempt such feats is something many people overlook. So, the next time you know where I can find an international competion of operatics, be sure to let me know.

Being somewhat warped, I have considered shaving her fur down to around 1/2 to 1/4". When she was fixed they shaved a good bit of her underside and I think it looks good growing out. I already have the clippers to do it because I generally keep my own hair cut to 1/4 to 1/8". I just need to find...

    The Winter Olympics... who cares?

This is sad. Really, really sad. I can't believe the pursuit of excellence in agility and dexterity is so far beyond yall. Yall are just jealous because you reached your pinacle of dexterity with ten finger typing.

Never. My very best guess is that she often sleeps with her chin on my arm or hand thus getting my skin oils on her fur. But what do I know.

On a less whimsical note, what the heck is the deal with the matted fur under my cats chin and at the base of the ears. This is my first cat.

    Cats and keyboards

My cat seems very uninterested in doing anything other than lying around whether it is in my lap or somewhere else. My favorite of my cats is unwadding the newspaper. It started with a balled up paper towel. I threw it at her to chase or something but she did not react. Sometime during the day...

    Poetic Justice has arrived....

It is all very clear to me now. Tannin is a true republican and Mercutio is, as always, the Democrat. Who says my 8th grade civics lessons were wasted? :P

Giver, The secret is: when you see the crap flying, sidestep. It is just not worth letting it land then throwing it back. While you are not unabrasive, I do appreciate the balance you bring to the commentary.

    How old are you?

I will be 28 on the anniversary of my birth. Don't forget to celebrate. My birthday coincides several notable events in history. On This Day: In 1844, the Young Men's Christian Association was founded in London. In 1918, the World War One Battle of Belleau Wood, which resulted in a US victory...

Remember, It starts when the girlfriend brings home a stray that she found on the stoop. And then another one "follows her in from the car" and so on. Poll: Anyone like to cook?

I can make superb omlettes, oatmeal and steak but since I live alone I don't actually cook that much. As for clean up, I usually just leave the dishes and pans on the counter for a week. It's like magic. By the end of week all the big bits are gone and they only need rinsing.

Floppy Drives: What is your verdict?

As far as "nice to use", CD* won't be nice to use until they have read and burn support in bios. I have a floppy in every machine although one sits in the bottom of the case. I keep them around primarily as protection against elderly hardware.

    Hyperthreading (SMT)

IIRC, It had more to do with the extra functions increasing the die size such that it was cost prohibitive. Now that they have jumbo wafers and have decreased the trace width, it is more doable.

Coug, Surely misscapitalisation could be considered splitting hairs. Consider that although I have only seen two spelling of my nick: cliptin and clipton, I'm running about 50/50 in usage. There is already a winner for the first to misspell is on this BB. :)
