Well I laughed. Thanks for posting that Clocker, I haven't laughed out loud in a while now that I think about it. Hope that event was for charity or something ... would have added a nice touch. Still funny as heck though. :)

HURRY! Dell 3007WFP for 1600$CAD until Jan 20th

Did I miss news of this somewhere? If this review is for real, it looks like Dell is introducing a follow-up to the 3007WFP, the 3007WFP-HC. From the article:

Blast from the past: Does anyone know if you can stick a 100MHz FSB Slot 1 Pentium II into a motherboard that's expecting a 66MHz FSB Slot 1 Pentium II and come out with some kind of normal functionality (albeit in an ancient sort of way)?

I don't know enough about Outlook and Exchange (I'm just an end-user of that garbage), but I do know it's possible to create a distribution list with Exchange. One address could therefore reach multiple recipients. Would that solve your problem?

    Favourite TV series

Would you believe ... the original Get Smart is back? It actually happened. They released the full Get Smart series on DVD! Apparently the release date was last month (November 15th, 2006 to be exact). And for whatever reason, Time-Life is the company that is offering it. The set includes...

Original MS Intellimouse (serial version), $0.99

Centrix is selling off a nice, older-model Logitech optical mouse, specifically the Logitech M-SBF69, for $5.99 (and they're new, at that) with volume discounts available. A possible drawback is that they're PS/2 only. Also, if you tolerate 3Com products, in another deal they're selling off...

    New HDTV opinions wanted

I guess I'm more suspicious than most. I always assume that the store managers intentionally tweak the settings to bring out the best-looking images on the televisions that they make the biggest profit on. To hell with any other consideration. (At least that's what I'd do.)

    ATi vs. nVidia in Linux

Woohoo ... I posted too soon! I found the discussion! Note that it's a side conversation in a discussion titled, "Root Exploit For NVIDIA Closed-Source Linux Driver". (Yikes. Have I mentioned that, regardless of manufacturer, I prefer the open-source video drivers? :) ) The open-source...

    ATi vs. nVidia in Linux

Note: I didn't start looking into Linux graphics capabilities in any sort of detailed way until this summer. Prior to that I was usually happy with one monitor working at a standard resolution, using any bland 8-year-old analog video card with a DB15 RGB connector. As a result, any useful...

Original MS Intellimouse (serial version), $0.99

Actually P5-133XL, I bought my first optical mouse in 1990. It was made by Mouse Systems, in Fremont, CA. The thing about optical mice back then though was that they required special reflective mouse pads. Do you remember them? They were mirrored surfaces, covered with light blue and light...

    Current video card recommendations

I picked up four 9250 AGP cards -- they've been working very well. I've got 2 more systems that need the same options (passive cooling, boring and stable, just 2D graphics, 1 x VGA and 1 x DVI simultaneously), only in PCI Express form. I've been looking at a Radeon X550 128MB. Anyone have any...

Recommendations: PCI SATA controller with no pseudo-RAID?

I just bought three SATA adapters. One of these has to work: First, the questionable parentage VIA Vectro VT6421 / SYBA SY-VIA-150R card, for $12.85 Has scary RAID drivers, if you're into that sort of thing. Supports two SATA devices (and two irrelevant PATA devices). It uses a VIA VT6421L...

Wow, thanks mubs! I will definitely look at #2, and #3. As for #1, I'm not sure I'd ever trust the adapter to really be working with the drives in a standard fashion. One of the reasons many people suggest software RAID over hardware RAID, at least for small-scale implementations, is that you...

Recommendations: PCI SATA controller with no pseudo-RAID?

It looks like I'm going to be out of luck on this one. I believe both of these motherboards have 33MHz, 32 bit PCI buses. All the PCI SATA cards I'm finding out there appear to be 66MHz, 32 bit. I doubt that there is any option for some backwards compatibility there. I also found some...
