They both give the same temperature readings on my Xeon X3350. I guess it's up to what interface you prefer.
Is this a big deal?Another interesting observation. I have the MB set to dynamically adjust the CPU fan speed, and it is keeping the CPU at 86C. If I turn up the chassis fans, it slows down the CPU fan. At present it is under 2000RPM.
An every other motherboard manufacturer which has this -- which is pretty much all of them.I don't think so. I mean, the Intel guys must know what they are doing.
:skepo: I'm sure they couldn't possibly have an interest in your CPU not lasting as long as it could given that they make their money selling chips. :rofl:I don't think so. I mean, the Intel guys must know what they are doing. The chip and the board are rated to 100C+, so I guess we'll find out.
Any reason for not holding out a week or 2 for Sandy Bridge and getting a i7-2600K?My new home system (sig) is based on this build, and is amazingly fast.
Oh, I'm sure he'll get one of them too! :bomb:Any reason for not holding out a week or 2 for Sandy Bridge and getting a i7-2600K?
One? Surely, you jest!Oh, I'm sure he'll get one of them too! :bomb:
Okay, so I should have said "more than one". :rofl:One? Surely, you jest!
Win7 seems to think this is a well balanced system, scoring 7.4 across the board (except for storage; 7.9)/
You'd better get to upgrading then! oke:Yup, and the only thing that my home systems don't have at 7.9 now is RAM (7.5)
That's the score I get with mecanical hard drives (not Raptor, plain WD Caviar Blue and vanilla Seagate 7.2K rpm). What's wrong with the scoring?Only a 120GB Sandforce is letting down the side with a meager 5.9.
I love some of my consulting clients; they seem to be made of money.

B3,
Your post basically says "computers that aren't available now will be faster than the ones that are". While I agree, it isn't particularly...novel
Those X2-6870 cards represent a nice value in the high-end segment. Will he be gaming in that system? If it's for CAD, then he'll need a bad-ass Quadro (like a Quadro 4000).The user plans to run 3 30" 2560x1440 monitors. What video card would you recommend?
