I'm out for a month or two by the looks. Ambient is in the low to high 30's Celsius, (90's Fahrenheit) so CPU temps are elevated. I'll be back.

For the first time of our history, we will produce more than 3 million points in a single month.

Oh and does somebody have an extinguisher? Mark's ass is on fire. 45000 points today and it's not over yet. I don't know if he'll keep that pace or not, but if he does, January will be his best month ever.

Pick your certificates quickly. I might not host them for long.

You can get them later from Stanford's web site, but the date won't be good (Tea's certificate is one day late).

:-D Our PPD are very close. I get a burst over 3 days or so at around 60K. Your PPD are more consistent than mine.

I'd say more competitive than addictive, but I am sure somebody is addicted to amassing points.

EDIT: Whoops, just re-read my previous post and it could be interpreted as dissing Folding; it wasn't meant to, as I do consider Folding useful.

Folding is manipulating proteins to find a cure for deseases. By using thousands of small computers, you end up with a 'supercomputer' of sorts.

After 9-11 there were snail mail envelopes showing up with anthrax spores in them. The 'folding nation' switched to looking for a cure for human anthrax. Within a month or so, the folders had found a cure. (cure might be a little strong as there was still more work to do).
This story actually made the evening news.

 Toast to the folders!

Congratulations everyone, last week was our first week to produce over a million points!

My third system is down again. It hang Thursday at 97% of a P6900 unit (~67000 points) and when I restarted it, it flushed the current work and downloaded another. I shut it down for a day and yesterday, after running the client for half an hour, it rebooted, frooze and displayed no image. That computer is the one I own with the higghest-end parts and it's the least reliable. I'll try to re-install the heatsink (Xigmatek HDT-S1283W) and replace the power supply (OCZZ850M). The motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth X58 and the RAM is a 6GB kit of DDR3 1600MHz, pretty safe IMO.

But thanks to increases from Handruin and Ddrueding, my dropback didn't show too much on our team output.

Since my house is currently being heated via resistance electric, it may as well be a bunch of circuits. I have an nVidia 460 on the way, we'll see what it can do.

I'd be interested to know how much juice a 460 chews through. Any chance of measuring system load before and after starting folding on the 460?

I'm curious about a couple things. Is the 570 faster than a 460 when folding (I'm asking anyone, not specifically you)?

ddrueding, are you using your 570 along with CPU/SMP folding or is it running by itself?

Yeah, 3+ years. Right.

I did turn off the CPU folding and left on just the GPUs, it seems to have helped overall, and the responsiveness issues I was having with the system have gone.
