It's got to be cheaper than handling replacement drives from damage. None the less, that packaging does look very good. I'd even pay a couple bucks if it was an option to have it packaged better.

I don't think so. I'd bet that Newegg and the other super-high volume resellers know exactly where the optimum packaging level is. Not for best drive life, but for highest profit.

So this has to be the strangest experience I've had with the postal service / FedEx Smartpost... :skepo:
On 8/23 I ordered three albums from the UNKLE store at MusicToday. (possible NFSW link due to album art). One was a FLAC download which I referenced here. A week later on 8/30 I got a e-mail indicated the two physical albums had shipped via FedEx SmartPost and included a tracking number. I waited, waited, and waited some more. I never got anything in the mail, and the tracking never went past, "Shipment information sent to FedEx Please check back later for shipment status or subscribe for e-mail notifications"
On 9/20 I sent them an e-mail complaining & asking where my order was. They agreed to replace it, but one of the two items was no longer available which pissed me off since it was a limited edition boxset and it's 3x as much $$$ through Amazon. Anyhow, the replacement order hasn't shipped yet.
So, much to my surprise today, 9/28, I found a padded envelope shipped airmail from Canada in my mailbox. It's marked as a gift and said it contained CDs. I opened it, and in it I found my first order (still sealed), my invoice, and a sticky note from someone in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan who somehow received my order by mistake and was kind enough to spend $9.21 CAD to send my CDs to me.
I have no idea how an order went from Crozet, VA to Saskatoon, SK instead of Michigan. The FedEx tracking number still shows, "Shipment information sent to FedEx Please check back later for shipment status or subscribe for e-mail notifications". :scratch:

SD, I bet yours slipped inside a package going to SK.
That is very strange but hella cool they shipped it to you! Are you going to send them a thank you or anything? I'm surprised they didn't just take it back to fedex and tell them they screwed up shipping your package and make them pay for the return shipment to you.

Well, the note was rather sparse on the details. It just said they received my order by mistake. I don't know if it was inside the package with their order, or what exactly.
I'm also not sure that I have their full address. There's no return address on the package, and I'm not sure what's on the sticky note is a complete address. I guess I need to check. They didn't include an e-mail either. They made it kinda hard to thank them.
Damn, that is a lot of hard drives. I'd be happy to have 1%. :farao:

I buy most of my work cloths at Salvation Army. $4-5 for button down shirt.
I don't know if you have Kohls near you, but often times you can find coupons and discounts on their stuff. The prices are reasonable and they even have name-brand stuff if that interests you. They also have a great return policy.

Friggin' Awesome. We are slowly getting closer in weight. 210 now, aiming for 200. You've come a lot further than I have. I've made the sacrifice and gone back to 34/34 jeans (from 36" waist).

I went from 222lbs to 167lbs over the course of a year. The first 45lbs dropped in about 6 months. The last 5lbs slowly came off in a the next six months after I sorta stopped trying.

There's one just a few miles away, and it is where I buy clothes, but at $25 for a new shirt and $45 for a pair of pants, it adds up. I'm thinking about looking into Bozo's suggestion, but in my neck of the woods I doubt I'll find much in the way of professional-looking attire.
It's funny that I think nothing of spending $300 on a new CPU but $300 on clothes seems like a silly waste of money.

I don't like Kohl's clothes. I thought that as of several years ago they really lowered the quality. My rule of thumb for Kohls is unless it's on clearance, I don't buy it. And, never, ever, ever buy regular priced clothes at Kohls. They typically start clothes out at 50% off within a few weeks of putting them on the floor and they gradually work their way down. The clearances are the best times to shop. Then you can get that $22 shirt for $3 or so.
I prefer to buy clothes at JCPenney. I thought the quality was better than what Kohls was offering and their clearance prices are similar to Kohls.

I shop at thrift stores and eBay predominately. Even my suits and dress shoes came from eBay. It's the new thrift store.
Not for the sellers, I just started unloading stuff there again and the seller fees are a lot steeper than what I remember they were. I definitely use the forums and craigs list a lot more now before going to ebay. Unfortunately some stuff just doesn't sell till you get it listed in front of the huge ebay audience.
