    LED lightsaber project

Well correct me if I'm wrong but a 12V strip would required 8 AA which are 1.5V each, correct? That's a lot of batteries to fit into the handle. I was thinking more like 4 AA for 6V. So I'm not really finding 6V LED strip lights.

    LED lightsaber project

So I have this group of kids that I want to do this build your own lightsaber project with. I found instructions online here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-your-own-lightsaber/ Then I backtracked that to more recent instructions from the group that originally made them...

    Android device backup method

There is Helium which doesn't require root. But I don't think it backs up what you want backed up. It just backs up applications and their data.

Which OS Upgrade for old computer?

Okay so if I buy a windows 8 license, can I use that for installing windows 7? Linux is probably a non-starter, too much muscle memory so to speak. While primary functionality is web browsing and her e-mail is in the cloud, she does do some other stuff with some ms type software.

Which OS Upgrade for old computer?

So mom's got a Athlon 64 X2 4000+ based Dell E521 with 2GB of RAM that I bought her back in 2007. As XP support is going away, I'm thinking I should upgrade the OS. So which MS OS offering should I buy? The windows 8 upgrade seems to be about $95. I don't have windows 8 on my own computers...

I thought the pacing was better. I felt the Fury seen was not needed. I'd rate it higher than the premier.

    Best movie you've seen

I thought the episode pacing at times was too quick especially with the wrap up and ramp up. And I had no idea what the tech guy was saying half the time. I couldn't hear it. I guess he was talking to himself or something. Regarding Tahiti: "He can never know"

The Widget Thread (v. Why don't we have one already)

I have very few widgets. Just the stock htc one with clock and weather. And the htc one that looks like power toggles mentioned above. Then one for Audio Control that lets me switch audio profiles easily, even though they are already on a schedule. For a calendar I use Jorte calendar control...

    NSK2400 build notes

Well because I have programdata/profiles on D: I had some sort of issue when I swapped the drives and tried to logon. Error indicated logon service was unable to logon. I booted into safe mode and ran disk management and changed the drive letter to D: from J:. Still no go. I had to follow...

    NSK2400 build notes

I asked amazon to match the gold box price from yesterday for the 7200.14 drive of 109.99 and they did. So I got three for that price. Here's hoping I don't have to RMA any of them for DOA.

    Online backup

I've only restored individual files. And I've complained before about the upload speeds to them. They have a service where they'll send you a hard drive. I think for actually restoring everything, I'd pick that. I look at it as a second level of backup after my local disk imaging.

    4k TVs and Monitors

I believe the reviews I read indicated it is cheap because it doesn't include any functionality beyond having inputs and displaying them. So no wifi or whatever software is loaded. It is just a TV in the older sense. I'm not even sure what it allows you to configure.

The bluetooth in my 2012 subaru is fine from a sound quality perspective. But it absolutely sucks from a manage and call phone numbers perspective. Voice control is absolutely painful. New inexpensive build - how did I do?

Nevermind, just read the manual again and it is the audio block and then individual wires. Which leads to the question of where the firewire connector is? And if plugging it into a usb header was a bad thing.
  27. W

New inexpensive build - how did I do?

It is all just a bunch of individual wires, not a block with a pin filled in. It's a P160 which has a firewire and then individual front audio connectors. I didn't connect them, not a big deal.

New inexpensive build - how did I do?

Yes that is exactly what I meant. My previous motherboard included a couple of these with it. I did find that the motherboard has a couple usb2 headers and I hooked those older ones up. But there seemed to be no support for them in the case on the tab side so I took them out. Honestly in...

New inexpensive build - how did I do?

    Mount Nexus 7 in Dash?

Yes it looks like that. So you still make calls through the stock radio, did you address how to select contacts to dial? I was hoping to use one of the various car dock apps to make dialing contacts easier. And possibly using the voice recognition in the nexus 7 rather than the head unit.

    Mount Nexus 7 in Dash?

I saw a video where they used a separate little box for the equalizer and volume control. I don't think I'd need that but would probably consider it. I also don't know how I'd get the steering wheel controls to work. I see the ease of just leaving the stock radio in there. But I think it...
