A little googling on eneloop and I see they are a NiMh battery with a virtually non-existant self discharge rate. What makes them so much better? For flashes specifically?
Mubs, sounds like even with the D40 you'll want a dedicated flash unit. There are ones for the D40 like the SB-400 which takes two AA and has a 2.5 second recycle time. That is another $150. I'll probably pick one up around christmas time.
Well the price is kind of crazy.
But I just linked it for the apparent chipset difference. The intel chipset has some problem that keeps the drive from achieving maximum performance. I hope they can fix that with a driver update.
Sites I read say windows XP Pro x64 is based on the windows 2003 kernel. So it should be fine running that instead of windows server 2003, correct? A license for XP Pro x64 seems to be about $160 (viosoftware.com). MS has a 120 day trial version. I think I'll try that.
Does F@H run fine in...
Dude you need a D40. It's only $525. Yes the battery lasts an hour or two indoors. More even. I haven't had the battery die yet. I've recharged it right before events. And the flash is fast enough. If not you have a shoe for a different flash. You'll miss the shot preview on the LCD...
Hmm... This is pretty much my recent build (all prices mwave.com):
Except I used the more expensive gigabyte board and bought more ram and am reusing a video card.
Will's Build But Cheaper 2007-08-13
CPU: Core2Quad Q6600 $279
MB: Intel BOXDG33BUC $104
RAM: Corsair Value...
Thanks!
Maybe it just means I've asked 1000 questions. I hope you guys don't mind.
my previous 1000 post milestone was here:
1000 posts between both nicks
Maybe we should update the old cheap PC thread. I know there was one around here were quite a few posted their base PC configs. It might be a good time to get those configs updated.
I'd guess to run a 1066Mhz bus now but replace the processor with the 1333Mhz processors later? But even though the P35/G33 supports 800Mhz ram, somehow had told me that 667 was the balanced speed for a 1333mhz front side bus (1/2). So that is why I bought 667 not 800.
So that leaves me to...
So I'm building my new PC and figure maybe this is a good time to go 64 bit with the OS. I've never done that before though. So what are my OS choices (windows only)? And what are the gotchas? Any references out there on the web I should read?
Technically no, the VMs themselves aren't immune to viruses and rootkits. They get infected just like any other system. But you probably have a point in time copy of the VM from before any infection. Once the VM gets infected you shut it down and replace with the copy before infection. Plus...
The 1333Mhz processors are cheaper because intel wants to push them not the older ones. After all the penryhn revision is not far off. So the 1066Mhz processors are going to go the way of the dinosaur quickly.
That doesn't mean the Q6600 is bad. In fact it is a real bargain for a quad core...
Yes consider the G33 chipset. I bought the gigabtye board GA-G33M-DS2R but there is an intel version which is cheaper. Add a Q6600 (quad core 1066Mhz bus) and say 2 or 4GB of appropriate DDR2. You'll get onboard video. Buy yourself one of those optiarc dvd burners that is SATA. Onboard you...
I'm building with the NSK2400 and the GB GA-G33M-DS2R. I'm bringing over my ATI X300 video card instead of using the onboard. One day I'll probably upgrade the video card.
Some google stuff:
http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2147&page=7
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2007/gigabyte/GA-G33M-DS2R/b4.htm
So onboard basically sucks.
I think you'll have to pull out a paper style guide.
But I found this question almost directly addressed on this website:
http://www.grammarcheck.com/archives/04-2005.htm
I used this search string in google
style guide "use of a and an" acronyms
I don't think it is spam. Does a call from a recruiter count as spam? That is what I consider this. I researched the opportunity and the poster and posted some links for further information.
Also he is responding. If someone just left a post like this and then didn't respond to requests...
How do you screw up manufacturing a simple automotive fuse?!?
I think they sell them in dollar stores. Are we not supposed to buy those?
How often do fuses need to be replaced anyway? The only time I ever replaced a fuse was in my 1976 cordoba. (No I don't still have that car, I probably last...
I don't remember how much it cost before but based on coug's reply I'd guess it was $95 dollars before. I paid $105.99. I see newegg has it for $129.99. I was ordering my other computer parts from mwave so I just ordered it with them. Newegg seems to be overpriced on some things lately. I...
And it would have helped if you told us the former website name nstor.com and that the name of the product is CR8F not RC8F.

I think I confirmed my question about the upcoming 45nm penryn processors is a yes. So I bought the items.
Antec NSK2400
Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R
Intel Q6600 (retail so I can use stock cooler)
4GB DDR2 memory
Optiarc AWG170S-B2
"One" more question before I pick the Q6600.
Let's assume I pick the Q6600 and slap it in a motherboard with support for the 1333 Mhz FSB. Next year when the intel die shrunk native quad core chips are out, will they work in my G33 based motherboard? Or will there be a different socket or...
You asked about my is this post title serious post:
I was actually calling CLOCKER on his post title being slightly immature. He got the idea. I have no problems with his possession of a myspace page. Several of my programmer coworkers have them.
Now I'm unsure which to get the E6750 ($209) or the Q6600 ($289).
What do you think?
If just for folding I should pick the Q6600 correct?
Questions on my mind:
Which runs hotter? I'm going to use the stock cooler unless it doesn't fit in my microatx case NSK2400.
Will power requirements be an...
Yes I use AV software.
I use NOD32 because it has always been very light on resources and doesn't slow the machine down and consistently is in the top in AV tests.
I have it configured to check everything but outlook e-mail since I don't use outlook on my home machine.
I almost never scan my...
Transformers rocked. Who thought the plot was thin? I didn't think so.
It seemed to have the right combination of action and comedy. Oh and a hot babe named Megan Fox ;)
