    Sony DCR-TRV27

Yes I've checked ebay's prices and that is why the price has been lowered. If no one here needs one, so be it. I've listed it at SR and Anandtech. It is a nice toy, but I simply don't have the money or time to get into the digital video deal. It requires massive amounts of storage.

    glassy computer desks

Yeah, hunt and peck typists (if you can call them typists) get annoyed when they have to type on my natural keyboard. But I love it and feel cramped on other keyboards. Learning to use it actually enforces typing skills. I only look at the keyboard for the numbers anymore.

    Front Mounted USB/Firewire/Audio Ports

Routing the cables for those front usb ports on the antec metallic bronze mini-tower I just built for my dad was a pain in the arse. Each wire is separate. There are like ten individual pins on the motherboard. Figuring out which wires go where and getting them all in place took me like an...

Is Will Rickards = Will Rickards WT?

Yes I'm me. The WT is a suffix for the account I use to post from a location that isn't home. I couldn't access my regular account information one day and just had to post a reply.... and a new nick was born. WT stands for Wilson Technology which is where I work. Not much posting lately as...

Does programming make you appreciate the work of others?

Yes absolutely. Even seemingly simple apps can take considerable effort. I see flagrant disregard for software licensing even at a software place and wonder how people who do this for a living can take that stance. The idea that 'all software should be free' is naive.

What is up with Windows update ??

I think the new windows update is for win2k sp2 and windows xp users. Make sure you have windows 2000 service pack 2. If you still have problems, you can manually delete the existing windows update control. see this article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q243787&GSSNB=1

So I took the IBM site one... and it now says A5AA. So at least I'm more up to date if not to A5BA. Enough for tonight. You need a different update depending on the 4th letter of your firmware. I is one and O is another. My guess - IBM vs OEM. Oh and while I'm at it... the HD is at 32 degrees C

Floppy Drives: What is your verdict?

Let's agree that for older hardware floppies are necessary. But in new PC's especially these ones without legacy ports and such, why do you really need a floppy and do you guys want them to stick around in those type of PCs? CD re-writers are much more common now. Heck, even I would have one...

Floppy Drives: What is your verdict?

My feelings: Floppy disks are the most unreliable pieces of garbage that ever existed. They have caused more lost data than I care to think about. They are so useless because of their ridiculously small capacity. Most bios programs allow you to boot from the CD drive. But a bootable CD still...
