Second opinion on some electrical calculations

I've heard the 48v thing before, which is why I stopped there. Finding bigger step-down transformers might be the right play; running two strips off each would simplify the wiring. Finding 40A units might be tricky. I tried to avoid the 120AC for the same reason, it would require considerable...

Second opinion on some electrical calculations

I think I have this right, just asking for a once-over to make sure. I plan to run many of these 5-meter addressable RGB LED strips. Spec states 18W/m power draw (so 90W per strip). In my testing, I've connected two of the strips directly together and let power flow through the whole thing...

    3D Printer Thread

This is why I'm torn between the printer and the mill. The printer is much more accessible and cheaper, but not everything should be made of plastic. Likely it will just be to allow me to rapid prototype before sending the model off to a company for manufacture in something more sturdy. It will...

I don't go on cruises for time off the boat. For me it is a nice air-conditioned room with a changing view and good food only a few steps away. I don't even do events on the ship. Usually only my family and housekeeping see me. The family is cool with it because they have activities and a pool.

SSDs - State of the Product?

The motherboard manufacturers clearly consider the heat thing a real issue; my new X299-Deluxe has a large heatsink just for the M.2 slot. I've attached heatsinks to them in other installs. And motherboards are available with at least 4 slots on them, with PCIe cards offering more slots if needed.

Which is the best Buy: Shielded and Unshielded Ethernet Cables?

In the US, anything "low voltage" (<24v? 48?) doesn't have that kind of issue. I used shielded, because going in after would be a PITA. Certainly paranoia, but I'd do it the same way again.

If it is a competitive match, you can ask for the rules to be a "Scramble". This means that after each team hits, the team chooses the shot they like best and everyone hits from there. Odds are you will be hitting from other people's positions a lot, so you won't be falling behind.

Intel X299: What is it good for?
