Are there any decent utilities that write to storage and read confirm multiple cycles for the purpose of stress testing? I need to be 100% sure of operational function and manual tests require too much of my time (effort). I'm not so concerned about duration.

I'm sick of the other computer crashing every 2nd or third time. :mad: XP32 is fine, but XP64 is the culprit. I tested the RAM forever with Mamtest, changed numerous settings, moved drives, RAM, and cards around, etc. Once it boots the system is fine.

The drive is strange. The access time is unnatural in HDTach. HDTune locks up the computer when the drive is accessed. What results are others getting for the drive? It also smells odd, but I take that as volatiles from the drive being new.

Is it possible to replace the motherborad without buying new operating systems? Meanwhile we are stuck here with only the old 4.2GHz system that has almost no hard drives and a minimal installation.

Is there any problem with switching hard drives or images between notebook PCs? The two units are the exact same model with pre-installed OS, so I'm hoping that there should not be any activision issues. I'd like to keep them in different cities and just bring the data back and forth occasionally.

Compared to its larger sibling, the 1.5TB WD drive's transfer rate decays much less at the end and access times are lower. It looks to be short stroked, but not at quite the same density as the 2TB model. What gives?
