    Despised software, anyone?

I think you nailed that one Tony - I've used it (and still do) at home and it just works without any fuss and bother as long as the machine it's on is malware-free (apart fom version 5, but that was a seriously buggy version that was quickly pulled by Apple when it started messing up people's...

ELO have come back into vogue over here of late also - their 2003 "Light Years" compilation (which I picked up on the cheap 18 months or so ago in a second-hand CD shop) is near the top of my iTunes favourites playlist. Jeff Lynne certainly knew how to write a good tune..... GM

I can hardly wait Dr. Who on SciFi channel starting 3/17/06

The wobbly sets and SFX were part of the show's charm :) , although in reality the Beeb didn't allocate it a particularly large effects budget. In answer to your second question Merc, Chris Ecclestone only lasted one season in the role before quitting (apparently due to a combination of...

Adding front USB 2.0 ports to an old box.

I think I'll be going down the route that Andy suggested also - my NForce 2 mobo's USB ports are supposed to be USB 2.0, but are flaky to say the least :crap: Some devices work OK (my Creative webcam and Sidewinder joypad), but storage devices such as digital cameras and USB flash drives...

    SCSI questions from a n00b

The two Maxtor 10K drives in my box (one 18GB & one 73GB) are both pretty good from a noise standpoint - they're all but inaudible except when working heavily, and even then they're not that bad. Same goes for the older Fujitsu MAJ that I use as the OS drive, although that's a little louder. GM

    Britain re-elects moron

The Liberals (or Liberal Democrats as they're known these days) haven't been a major political force since the Labour party emerged in the the 1920's - for the next 60 years or so they were very much a minority party with just a handful of seats (typically 15 - 20). It's only in the last...

    Britain re-elects moron

Exactly - the only serious alternative (i.e the Tories) was much, much worse. Blair's personal credibility got shot to pieces as a result of his actions over Iraq, and a lot of regular Labour party voters stayed at home as a result. However the Conservatives were working from such a small base...
