I'd argue that the generic case is true as well: You know you have too many X when you decide that one of them is going to be dedicated for Y in the bath*.

I must have too many TVs if you know what I mean. :)

Congratulations Chewy. I certainly wouldn't have enough motivation to go back to school again. If your universities are more or less like ours, earning a mark in the nineties is quite a feat.

Thanks.

I believe the average in that subject was barely a pass or 52% based on what people have been saying on Facebook. Most of the other classes I had last semester, all had averages ranging between 75% and 60%, so it would appear that the coursework is still slightly harder than what is happening in the US, where the average (according to Merc's sources) is an A.

Most University's in Australia operate on a 7 point grade system (unlike America's 4 point system), with 7 (High Distinction) is 100%-85%, 6 (Distinction) is 84%-75%, 5 (Credit) is 74%-65%, 4 (Pass) is 64%-50%, 3 (Low Pass) 49%-40%, and 2-0 (Fail) less than 40%. IIRC, accordingly to what I've read on the US system, I would have a GPA of 4.0, but here it's only 6.875! But having seen some corresponding course work from a US based University, the second-year level work appears slightly easier than what we have done/taught, but overall I think most would say they are compariable.

I'm now officially in my final year (so only 12 months to go).

The scary thing is, that most of the kids I work with are nearly half my age, however most appreciate my prior experience when dealing with Project work.

I would not keep a tablet in the toilet, but I have taken it in there a few times.

With the recent introduction of nutrition information at most fast food places here in Australia (it actually came in a while ago), in that they must display the kJ for the item being sold/consumed as a way to help with weight issues...

So why not come up with a kJ per dollar value, so that consumers are able to get the most calories for their dollar? That way in these tough economic times, we can make the most of our dollar... Good idea? Or will this just promote the eating of really bad food, since it's the really bad stuff that is high in calories, but low in price?

Hmmm, I would expect that table sugar might be the best 'bang for the buck' in the food energy stakes. But fats are more energy-dense, so I wonder if dairy cream might be the ultimate winner?

Bread is absolutely insane. I tend to think about things that I eat in terms of how many slices of sandwich bread they equate to and how much time I have to spend walking to work that off.
At the pace I walk, a slice of bread is maybe 12 minutes of walking. That REALLY gives me pause over something like a dinner roll.

It's genuinely tricky to get what we need out of processed food. Yogurt is probably the only thing I eat regularly at this point that I don't make myself.

I bet a large can of Crisco (vegetable shortening) or a large container of vegetable oil would win your calorie/kJ per dollar game.

Using Peapod (grocery delivery) here's what I found:

Crisco: 2008 calories/$
Vegetable oil: 2308 calories/$
Granulated sugar: 1845 calories/$

Geez, I have started paying attention to food nutrition lately and it certainly isn't easy. Before this I was simply managing the quantity I eat and controlling any overeating.

I've done the same recently, and it can be scary how bad some foods are....

Mind you, the other day we were treating ourselves with some MacDonalds, and the young lady behind me ordered a triple-quarter pounderm but with no cheese, because she was worried about the fat content in the cheese! (This was when I thought of the cal/$ ).

Most of those women aren't really attendees but models or booth babes.
Which is not to say that there aren't hot chicks at comic book conventions. In fact there are tons of them. It's just that those chicks were pretty much all paid to be there. Just about the only time I've seen pro-grade models who were genuinely, legitimately fans, they were either Ruby Rocket (google her, safe for work but maybe a little edgy) or working for CosPlay Deviants (not safe for work).

I'm taking my stripper friend to Chicago's bigger comic convention in a few weeks. I think she's going to wear a cheap Slave Leia costume since she's both a Star Wars dork and a total attention whore.

Those looked like fans to me. Last night we went for a walk in Carmel-by-the-Sea at sunset and there was a Catwoman photo shoot on the rocks. That was certainly pro based on the kit and staff. Interesting thing was all the staff (photogs, makeup, lighting, etc) were all hot women, but only the one was in costume. Interesting.

Simply walking in the living loom is a danger. All four of my limbs are damaged at this point. If I were a natural animal, the hyenas would have dispatched me by now.

Bought a ThinkStation S20 off Ebay for a customer. The unit I was shipped has a pair of 300GB x15s and a Quadro 4000 in it.

Also, Coug, I got that. :)
