The specs only list the 2 USB 2.0 rear ports, but omits the front 4 USB 2.0 ports. Odd. Together with the FACE module, it would make a great alternative to a Ubiquity router IMO. I have not read how much it cost though.

Also, from what I read, the power consumption of 1.5V RAM versus 1.35V RAM isn't worth the trouble for a standard board (4 RAM slots or less). It might make sens for a server board with 16 RAM slots, but not for a maintream board. The difference I saw what only 1-2W. Not something you'll want...

The double-clic only works for the "Reply with Quote" for me. No matter how fast I double-clic on "Reply", it only sends me to the bottom of the page for a quick reply. I don't mind since that's how I wrote most of my posts since the forum upgrade.

For the enclosure, the smallish Silverstone TJ08-E can accomodate a small motherboard (µ-ATX) and it has a big, low-noise 180mm fan. It's not silent, but I bet it can match the noise level of the Antec P180. There's also the cheaper version from the same company : the PS07. It is 20$ less...

You know those 35$ Dynatron heatsinks aren't exactly pleasant company, right? 7000rpm for a 60mm size, I let you figure it out. You don't want this outside of a server room.

I think the part Greg will understand is having 25% of his total disk space in RAM. I'm sure he has at least a terabyte drive so... Hey, 16 sticks aren't that expensive.

So here we have : Bozo : WD not good, but Seagate is worse. CougTek : WD not good, but Seagate is worse. BBB : WD not good, but Seagate is worse. Handruin : WD ok (sample too limited to tell otherwise), Seagate not good. Mercutio : Seagate not good, but can't compare with WD because I haven't...

The Asus board is more expensive than the Superµ you currently have. On the positive side, it can overclock its processors. Your enclosure has holes for SSI EBB motherboards, right? A rackmount case should, but I ask for the form. You know you'll be able to fit two Revo drives more on this...

I'm now typing from the PC-BSD installation. It's actually quite nice, but very spartan. There's not even a Net browser installed by default. The AppCafe lets you install a bunch of available softwares smoothly though. I replaced the original single-core CPU on which I made the...

That's a shameful, lame and idiotic reply. It doesn't help you the slightless either. If you go to the page of the SC825 chassis, it does not include any heatsink, which is obvious, but there's a link to their heatsinks and fans page, none of them being compatible with socket R. And if...

How many PCIe 4X or more does your motherboard have and what kind of budget is at your disposal to make it work smoothly? What's the average size of VM you target? If the VM aren't too big, then it might be worth looking at replacing the 15Krpm drives with Revo drives. The Revo 3 Max IO...
