Good point Tea, I think Tannin picked up something like this, which Pradeep or Clocker left in the locker here at the bar. Where did Tannin get the key? Tea?

Once the temperature begins to drop, I just might use some of Buck's extra computers and start crunching again. The extra heat will be nice. I think he was trying to fire up some of his old dualie systems, and they weren't behaving. He might have to upgrade them.

Fushigi, It’s nice to come across someone else that is interested in German wine. Interestingly, around my area it is old fashioned to talk about any sweet wine, let alone white wine. We use to import wine from the Weingut Alfred Bonnet estate for about 10 years. After a while, it became too...

I must admit, that after the post from our resident bartender, I did not review the follow-up posts very much. However, Fushigi, I can appreciate your taste for Tequila and Riesling. Neither are my current favorite, but there was a time when my list was pinnacled by commemorative and sweet...

Congratulations to Steve (Groltz) for passing the 1000 post mark. Your contributions for the last 3.5+ years are certainly appreciated. You've been with Storage Forum since January 2002, and your input has added an important piece to our community. A combination of technical skills, worldly...

Companies that don't get it (job postings)

Although I technically don't have an employer, Handy is a nice boss. But, from what I see, employers seem to be a mixed bag. I see some that actually take the time to plan out their business, and forecast specific needs for the next 5 or 10 years. Than there are others who wing it, and wonder...

No, I'm less sensitive about those sort of things. As long as they don't cause any trouble, I'd even be glad to serve them a drink. I don't know what Buck is talking about, he's passed out most the time anyway. I doubt he could even muster up the energy to walk two blocks and find out if they...

    Rollcall: who is running what?

That's being a little too dramatic. Although it is practical, but not because of his incredible sensibleness (which he doesn't have) -- he's never at the computer; he doesn't really work; I wonder how he makes his money sometimes. When he posts, it's usually from one of the systems left behind...

    A little bit chilly

I'm not sure how the rest of the country is doing, but around here it's been hot, I mean like Africa hot. Buck took me for a quick ride in his oil burner (we picked up some parts for a new ice cream maker), and with the AC off, it was awful. Unfortunately, he doesn't use his AC, but not...

AMD to crap on customers, Q1 06

Good question Will. I had a recent discussion with a technician at the bar, and after researching the situation it seems that DDR2 is indeed better technology in regards to performance, but only after we reach and pass a high FSB. So, the original 400MHz incantations were equivalent to the...

Indeed, it should be brewed with 93-degree Celsius water. Any cooler, and some of the aromatics that make up the flavor will not be released. Hotter, and some undesirable elements will be pulled from the grounds, affecting the taste.

I thought I would resurrect this thread based on some personal enjoyment. Tonight we opened a nice bottle of Jim Beam bourbon. This isn’t your average Jim Beam (which is just fine in my book), but this is the Anniversary edition. The bourbon was already aged 75 months (just over 6 years)...
