I have enjoyed a few in the last few weeks: "The Bank Job" had a rivetting story and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" was good for some laughs.

1 TB Samsung for $94.99 free shipping at Newegg

hehe-hahaha, we've got a German geek with a mexican accent. on topic: hmmm, I'd want a Samsung 1Tb for Christmas. but the Pentax arrived last Sunday and the missus might say "that's enough Christmas for you this year" And I'd say, yeah but early next year I'll need space to put all the pix.

    all folders read only

I still suspect there could be a virus or malware even if Avast cleaned it (2 viruses) using the boot scan. I tried the attrib -r from the command line and I get a nonrecognized command error message. I am logged on as administrator. sorry for the late response, I was onto something else...

the work computer downstairs was virus infected 3 weeks ago. I reformatted Now all the folders in 3 partitions are marked 'read-only' in properties. if i uncheck the 'read-only' box and click apply, it asks if I want it to apply to all sub-folders and files. I say yes. But after "ok"ing, then...

Hello Bozo, glad that you are mending. Even if open-heart surgery has advanced far beyond Christian Barnard's time, it still is a frightful thing to undergo. And unless you have insurance, something that would really traumatize the wallet, too. Here, many people would just lie down and ...

I have read Airframe (good read) and Andromeda Strain. I used to read a lot when I was younger. Now I am reading again, this time courtesy of a portable mp3 player which also displays text files. So when I find myself in queus, in the bank, waiting for customer service, or in public transport, I...

    dSLR thread

I would agree. those insisting on larger sensor MUST have specific needs the current popular sensor sizes can't provide; or they take lousy pictures and NEED to blame that on the sensor size; or they don't take pictures for pictures' sake, they just want to be seen with the big camera.

Which reminds me, I have to have a checkup for my prostate. I'm 54 now. There are times when I have to strain to keep up a stream. Is that worrisome? Or is this too morbid to post here? er, what do they do on a colonotomy? do they remove anything?

forgotten password in Vista, any solution?

My sister's friend apparently forgot or mistyped something when changing the password on a Vista laptop. Now she can't access Vista. Any suggested solution? I asked her to access Vista through safe mode hoping there was no Administrator password. But there is an Administrator password and they...

Thanks, e_dawg. I was aware of that. But the excitement of acquisition got the better of me and I went ahead inspite of the negative possibilities. Now looking for a way to instruct my sister in Edmonton on how to find out if the camera/lens has issues. Hopefully before it leaves Canada in...

Don't have a camera (yet), but I hear that "sigh". Very good letout for your frustration. I wonder where the E3 and "friends" are going to end up? Another mass build and some hardware thoughts

This is truly amazing. What would normally happen when a family is started is that all resources would go to keeping the family together and reasonably functional. What I usually see in my country is the breakdown of any future plans, especially completing school. And most often young couples...

question again, Can any of you please comment on the orange cast of the photographs? the sun was setting so the colors would be that way. But would it have been more desirable to have changed the white balance at the time of exposure to lessen the orange cast?

question: If someone uses a Nikon D40 or a Pentax K100D Super And uses an old non-AF 50mm 1.4 or 50mm 1.8 with the body. what would be the effective focal length and aperture of such lenses? Would a non-AF 28mm F2.8 be sufficient for night street shooting w/o flash? say at 800ISO?

I continue to be impressed, Merc. What you are doing is (at least in this part of the world) a recipe for white hair/baldness, wrinkles, hypertension and sore vocal cords. Congratulations! What, I didn't comment on the hardware? Doesn't Xerox have a budget laser printer. I know they sell one...

I use an Oly C750UZ 4mp camera. Very good images. And then again, I may not actually know what a good image is. Has full manual controls. ISO 50 and 100 are good but ISO 200 noisy and one should never use ISO 400. Still my only real rant is its inability to focus in low light. One can not...

Very humid in our place. We are supposed to be entering our Rainy Season and have had 3 typhoons already, 2 of them very destructive. The Weather Service says we will have around 10 more before the year is over. Normal temp here is 30-32 deg C. Bearable unless humid. When its humid, people...

    low-end laser printers these days?

If any of my friends asked me today to build a PC and recommend a printer, I'd recommend a cheap laser printer. Samsung, HP and Brother have some in our market.
