Version 3.0 isn't available yet, download the 2.19 instead. The stats system of the client 3.0 isn't supposed to change from the client 2.19, so your work won't be lost.
I was waiting for more opinions before I do anything. If two more members of the team agree, I'll create a Folding@home team and post the link to download the 2.19 client on the front page.
Doing averything in a hurry could have been considered as despotism and that's not what I wanted. So...
Since our current 0.99 Genome@home client will soon be obsolete and that our stats won't be ported to the new stats system that the Genome@home client 2.0 will use, should we switch immediately to the Folding@home project and start to accumulate units for this project right now since the Pande...
For now, what our current 0.99 client compute leads to a dead end. However, the currently available F@h client 2.19 doesn't allow us to compute for the Genome project either (only the F@h 3.0 will), so unless we switch from G@h to F@h, there's no point switching right now.
I'll start a poll...
The F@h client 3.0 hasn't been released yet. Hopefully, it will be easier to deal with than the 0.99 client of the Genome@home Project (I had no problem with it, but some people would have wanted many additional features).
The folks of the Panda Project must have appreciated our contribution...
All this for nothing! Back to a big 0 total team units processed.
I'll go find a bridge were I can through myself from. After, I'll download the F@h client 3.0 and start back from scratch.
Dell offers two UXGA 15" screens on their high-end laptops. Their older model is refered to as the regular and they call the new one the "enhanced" UXGA display. I never saw them next to each other so I cannot comment if it worths it or not to spent the few addtional hundred $$ for the...
That's the result of lobbying on cluelest but powerful persons. Why spend millions on develpment and court when you can get the same result by greasing an ignorant and easy to bribe senator? You gotta love our "democratic" system.
Thanks guys. I'll see what I can do with Goldwave. Unfortunately, the sound card in that computer isn't a Live!, so I don't have the Creative software to record from aux in.
I thought about creating a dummy member just to write that thread because the answer should be so basic it's a shame I don't figure it out by myself. Shut up, stop laughing. I'm tired and occupied on something else these days, so my mind isn't free for computer stuff.
So, here we go. Someone...
Don't take it bad NRG, it will happen again (soon by Tannin) ;-)
And don't discourage yourself if you lose a position to someone else, you might always come back latter on to claim what was once yours (subtle message to Bartender and Doug).
I heard that story before. Many women do that at random times of their life. I can't understand why, most men can't understand why and like many things women do, I don't think they even understand why themselves. Most things that happen between the ears of women seem totally deprived of...
Probably network technician. It pays more than simple computer assembler/debugger. It's been a few years since I did that so it should be a learning experience for the first few weeks. After, it should become boring as usual. I'll see when I'll be there. I hope I'll have the possibility to...
Updates on the front page will probably be less frequent in the upcoming two months. I'm moving and I will probably start a new job (stock market didn't work as well as expected, computer sales are dropping too) so I'll be pretty busy elsewhere.
Just wanted to warn you.
Congrats Jake. I just remarked that , but...your son is white and you're black. Are you not worried not to be the father? ;-)
Just remember that while convenient, using the garden hose to clean baby's mess would be cruel for your son.
Currently at 7.56 posts a day, you are still far from Jason's 22+ posts/day. Your omnipresence is still very tolerable, don't worry. And at least YOU bring content with most of your contributions.
Ditto with what Bill said about life being like roller-coaster. Sunshine will come after the...
Congrats to Douglas for being the first to reach 10000 units.
My foreign system is finally back on the Net so my stats should climb up to the level they were two weeks ago. It was about time.
Looks like Po Paul has written something about CMOS. It's well done, remembers me my old notes during my electronic classes. Nice read for those who didn't know how a transistor is made (or those who forgot).
The latest prices I saw placed DDR 256Mbit memory chips cheaper than comparable SDRAM, about 50¢ less at ~6.50U$ each. The best deal these days is on 128Mbit SDRAM chips, they sell for less than 2.50U$ each. That's still 16MB of RAM, twice as big as the buffer of the special edition Western...
Last time I tried WP was about 3 years ago. I liked it a lot, especially because it was a lot easier to customize documents with it compared to MS Word. Quattro Pro wasn't up to par with Excel IMO though. If I'm gonna buy an Office Suite, it might very well be WP, but for now, I'm looking...
I don't use macro at all. I must admit that my use of office suite is relatively basic. I only use the word editor and the spreadsheet, with most of my documents standing on one page. I never found a good spellchecker (none is really good for French) so I simply don't use it. For me, a good...
Hi,
I saw a link to this office suite on Ace's Hardware's front page and I was curious to know if anyone here has already tried it. It's supposed to be the open source version of StarOffice, so it shouldn't be too bad.
The 1.0.0 version seems to have been released recently, so maybe I'm not...
I have the feeling that Thoroughbred will see its name be massacred just as badly as the one of Tualatin. I've seen them all : Tulatin, Tulatain, Talatin, Tuluatin, etc. At least for Thoroughbred, people have the excuse that it has a lot of letters.
I don't know if you remember it, but some 9-10 months ago, I did the same thing but with the whole ATC thread. I measured the time it took to load the entire page with all the links and etc. Opera was the slowest of the bunch. Even behind Netscape, which was a surprise to me.
I will do the...
No, I don't shoot people. I don't even have a gun. Trunked doubled-barrels are illegal here anyway so I wouldn't have fun to own a firearm.
I much prefer to do this manually. Much more rewarding. I usually start by broking an arm. It's quick and easy. Legs are much tougher. Of course...
Mozilla bloated? The whole installation file is 9.8MB and the one of Opera 6.01 with Java support is 10.7MB. Let's not even think about the size of IE. Mozilla isn't perfect, but it's not exactly bloated either, at least not when compared to similar softwares.
Tony,
You can also create a new profile on your latest installed Mozilla version and delete your older one. I know I had some profile-related problems that I dragged from release 0.91 to 0.94 before I realized that strarting from scratch might solve the problem. There has been several speed...
Steve,
The L bridges that enable SMP on the XP don't need to be isolated from the ground. It doesn't matter if you short them with the ground. It only matters for the L bridges controlling the multiplier.
Well, believe it or not but Opera is actually noticeably slower than all the others on all the systems I tried it. The main advantage of Opera is that it's nice-looking, but it definetly not cream recent Mozilla releases in term of quickness.
I try to avoid participating and sometimes even reading threads where Jason participates. Of course, that means that my choices at SR are very limited since he is everywhere.
And to top that, he dares to tell us that he has a life and that he has so many posts just because he types and read so...
I'm not sure what pimping is (wild guess : the guys who hire and harass prostitutes?), but I don't understand the "I couldn't hit a woman" mentality. Women are supposed to be at par with men since 1944 IIRC. Equal means equal in my book, not just equal for what advantages them. Unless I...
