    Tualatin Starter Kit

Hmmm, nice deal. The same with brand new components, but without the Swiftech heatsink would cost ~355U$ here and shipping wouldn't be included. A 60U$ saving plus good heatsink and free shipping should ring a bell in someone's head. Too bad I don't need/have cash for it currently.

    Benchmark needed ASAP for CD-Writer.

I changed the OptoRite for a Lite-On LTR-32123S and so far it performs better, while being significantly quieter. The OptoRite wasn't a boeing, but it was just a tad less noisy than, let's say, a 50x Asus CD-ROM (which I consider very noisy). The Lite-On LTR-32123S is a bit noisier than my LG...

Great article to explain VIA poor PCI performances

I know, but since the article I linked dated from February, I figured the patch could have been integrated into a prior version of 4in1 driver. Thinking about it, it must not have been. I'll see if I can install it on my KT-266A based motherboard, even if I currently doesn't need it.

Great article to explain VIA poor PCI performances

Very well writen, although it is a bit too old to be posted on the front page. I think it worths being read anyway as it is very informative. From the tecChannel.de, learn. BTW, anyone knows if the latest 4in1 v4.38 include the VIA patch 1.04?

How to identify WD400BB with one platter.

Thanks to new member Bwm, who asked Western Digital for a way to differenciate the older 2 platters WD400BB from the newer 1 platter WD400BB. Menace from below (Genome@home Project)

Hi, Some of you might have notice it, but I'll say it anyway : we have taken the lead again over Team Pfeffer. And this time, it should be for good, unless we lose other soldiers in the battle (StorageForum.net seems to be our latest loss :(). However, browsing Statsman's team progession...

What do you think of this case?

It looks like a modified Antec Performance Serie, with a 120mm hole in the rear instead of two 80mm. See the side panel's handle, very similar to the one of the Antec. It must not be bad. I don't despise drive rails as much as some of you. There are good and bad rails, just like any other...

    Looking for HD and CD-RW

According to SR testing, the Samsung P40 is underperforming compared to other 7200rpm modern drives. I wouldn't use unless all the others would be much dearer and as reliable as a bunch of 75GXP. The Barracuda ATA IV seems to be less noisy and quicker overall. I like the Maxtor D740X because...

Our Bartender has been on steroids lately. More productive than even Doug. Impressive. We now have four members in the three digits/day processed units, plus another who's very close to that beat too (JoJo). This has allowed us to keep the pace with team Pfeffer during the last two days, not...
