Are there any external enclosures of the compact tower type that house 4-5 3TB drives and be used with older OS? I don't need the RAID, though JBDOG could work if it can tolerate being separated later on. Preferably the interface would be USB 3.0 or maybe SATA, but no sluggo GbE NAS stuff.

The labels are falling off of two hard drives, one of whch is very noisy as the adhesive gives and the clack is heard. Now I assume to remove or cut it off will invalidate the warranty. :(

I'm looking to buy about 15 or so 8GB USB 2.0 flaeh drives. Which model would you buy that is not too expensive (<$20) but decently constructed and reasonably reliable for writes? I'm paying for these out of pocket so no ridiculous suggestions, please.:) Thanks.

Does it adversely affect the longevity of an SSD to only use a small partition? For example, if the drive is 120GB and has one 20GB partition with the remainder unpartitoned, does the underlying memory cell usage still get evenly distributed over the entire 120GB or does it write over and over...

Anyone have that happen? I'm using the LSI controller (RAID 1, 0, 0/1) and the actions are slower on that than on the ICH10R oldy. The bust rate is higher on the LSI, but of what use is that if the drive is really slower? It is a SSD oddity. :bomb:
